Confessions of a River Rat

There's good reason Dan D. Gapen Sr. is known to most rivermen as the "Head River Rat". It's because Dan has spent his entire life on rivers, knows their mysteries and catches the fish, all species of fish!
In the River Rat video series, Dan places you on the river, shows you how, where, and when to catch river fish. The "Basics" are the first series of tapes done on rivers by anyone. Dan Gapen's first river tape deals mainly with smallmouth bass and the structures on which they can be caught. In the Basics 2, Dan Gapen takes the riverman into conditions of highwater and flooded backwaters on all size rivers. Tips on lures, deadbait rigs, livebait, lure selection, and tackle are found throughout. Most river species are reviewed with largemouth bass the main concentration. This video doesn't concentrate on only catching large fish, instead this tape, as in the case of all River Rat videos, discloses fishing on rivers as typically experienced under normal conditions. Dan Gapen takes you into the world of large river systems such as, the lower Mississippi or Tennessee rivers where large lock and dams prevail. This is a video which will improve your knowledge on how to catch large river species. Though species such as whitebass, carp, smallmouth bass, and walleye are taken, this video devotes much of its time teaching the angler about the catfish species. Stink baiting and float fishing for giant channel cats is just one of the tape's themes. Like all other tapes in the Basics, Series 3 is filled with helpful tips, one being how to rig and select a proper river boat. To add spice, Dan shows how to troll 'hard-to-catch' walleye up off a river lip.
