Description

The Hellgrammite nymph by Gapen goes down and gets trout to turn, flash and take. Work a Gapen nymph and watch your line for the twitch of a hungry trout. Big trout regularly feed on insects in the lower levels of the water column, on tops of rocks and those that are washed downstream. The hellgrammite represents a trout "steak" - a big meaty meal hard to pass up for trout laying in wait.

Work hellgrammites through fast-running water as well as through deep holes to entice trout to strike. When working deeper-running nymphs, strikes can come quickly and will show up as line "ticks" - slight movements of your fly line. Keeping direct connection, taking up line and mending with your fly rod will help you to connect and hook fish.

Gapen trout flies combine three generations of fly-tying expert knowledge and experience. Fly patterns have been combined with top fish-catching fly expert experience and insects of North America to provide flies that last, catch the attention of trout and get hook-ups. Fly components are assembled with rugged, quality wrap patterns offering you the angler a brilliant trout fly. Quality is assured as Gapen flies are not only tied by but also monitored by fly-fishing legend and Freshwater Hall of Famer, Dan Gapen. Your fly is the product of two Freshwater Hall of Fame anglers as Dan's father Don is also a member of the Hall of Fame for his awesome flies. Tie a Gapen fly on your tippet and know - there are may reasons why it is a superior fish-catching lure - all reasons fish can't resist a strike.
