This spinning reel will hold a capacity of 164 yards of 4 lb. mono fishing line or 126 yards of 6 lb. fishing line. If you use heavier line such as 8 lb. mono, the reel will hold 90 yards. These capacities are for mono (braid will increase capacity). The reels are built for braid and mono.
Fishing TIP: The lower line capacities will save you $$ on keeping your line fresh. Instead of having bulky large reels, compact reel line can be changed at 1/2 the price of a 4000 size reel. For jigging purposes and most lakes, you do not need a larger reel. The reel ratio is 5.5 : 1 which makes it a quick retrieve.
