Working the Flub Dub
The Flub Dub can be worked in several methods. A straight cast and retrieve, or trolling in the normal manner works extremely well. However, it's the special methods that attract the hard-to-catch fish.
Method #1:
By casting to your targeted area, allow the Flub Dub to settle on surface, then twitch every five seconds or so to entice a strike. The spinner flashing below the bait is the attractant. By using such a surface presentation, you represent the action of a dying fish.
Method #2:
By stopping your retrieve every 10 feet or so, you can allow the Flub Dub to rise towards the surface, activating the spinner to flutter as it rises (Shallow Floating Flub Dubs). Thus, a tantalizing enticement to the following fish represents the actions of a wounded baitfish.
NOTE: Because of the lure's forward-mounted spinner (which replaces the front treble), the bait is 85% snag free when running over bottom rock and timber.
Use these general guidelines for water depths:
2-1/2" | 1-2 feet | 1/8 oz. weight
3-1/2" | 2-4 feet | 3/8 oz. weight
4-1/2" | 3-5 feet | 1/2 oz. weight
6-1/2" | 6-12 feet | 1 oz. weight
